Birthdays

I'm born on the fourth of July and I was going to have a birthday party but I had a conversation with my sister and she thought that because I'm turning 20 I shouldn't have a party with my family but with just friends. I was thinking it didn't matter what age I was turning but celebrating a day that I feel is important with my family AND friends would be a good idea. So it ended with me not having a party at all but just celebrating with my sisters and mom. My question is how many of you think that what age you turn matters to have a party or not. I mean elderly people that turn 80 have parties with family and friends, is that so wrong? I just don't understand why what age you turn matters. The day you are born is a very important date and I think it is important to celebrate however you want to. I'm not mad or upset that I'm not having a party I actually think it would be less stressful. I think having my close family is enough maybe just a nice little dinner would be great.
